Fireworks For Sale in Whalley

Whalley is a BB postcode, and BB is the Blackburn area. That is the only fact that decides whether anything here can be brought to you, and it is worth understanding because the postcode letters reach a very long way past the towns they are named after.

Eleven letters, not eleven towns

Delivery covers PR, BB, BL, WA, WN, M, L, OL, SK, CW and CH. Read as town names that is Preston, Blackburn, Bolton, Warrington, Wigan, Manchester, Liverpool, Oldham, Stockport, Crewe and Chester — and read that way it is badly misleading, because every one of them is a Royal Mail area rather than a town.

CH takes in the Wirral as well as Chester. PR reaches all the way to Southport. M covers most of Greater Manchester. So a village that has never thought of itself as being near any of those eleven places is very often inside one of them, and the only way to be wrong about it is to guess from the name.

What it means from here

BB runs from the edge of the Ribble Valley down through Blackburn and Darwen, which puts Whalley, Clitheroe and a great many villages that feel rural into the same bracket as the towns. Being out of the way is not the same as being out of area, and around here it almost never is.

If the letter is not on the list

The checkout settles it rather than this page. Put the postcode in and it says yes or no, which is more reliable than any map because it is reading the same list the carrier works to.

And a no is not the end of it. Outside the eleven areas the checkout asks you to get in touch instead of quoting, because the answer depends on what a carrier would charge to reach you and that is a question somebody has to ask. It is worth asking: fireworks travel under carriage rules most national couriers will not take on at all, so a local firm doing it is the reason there is a list in the first place.

Collection has no list

None of this applies if you are coming to fetch it. Collection is free from any of the four counters wherever you live, and somebody outside all eleven letters can still order online and drive over. The postcode areas are about what a van will do, not about who may buy.
