Fireworks For Sale in Ormskirk

Most people buy fireworks by what they do. The other way round is to buy by who made them, which is how the trade itself thinks about it, and it is a more useful habit than it sounds.

Five names cover most of the shelf

Seventeen makers are represented in the range. Five of them account for most of it: Total FX Fireworks, Prestigious Pyrotechnics, Brightstar Fireworks, Evolution Fireworks and Zeus Fireworks. Between them they are more than 110 of the pieces on sale, so a shortlist drawn from those five names is already most of what there is to choose from.

What the maker tells you that the category does not

A category tells you what a firework is. A maker tells you how it behaves. Two barrages from different houses can carry the same description and the same number of shots and still be nothing alike in the way they build, the gaps they leave, and whether they finish on something or simply stop.

That is not marketing, it is just what happens when the same people design a whole range. Timing is a house habit. So is the decision about whether the last four seconds are the loudest four, which some houses treat as the entire point and others do not.

Buying a whole night from one house

There is a real argument for it. A display built from one maker tends to hang together, because the pieces were designed against each other rather than in different rooms in different years. Pace, colour and the way one piece hands over to the next all fall into line without anybody having to arrange it.

A night assembled from eight makers can read as eight separate ideas in a row. It can also be the better display, because no single house does everything well, and the pieces most people remember are usually the ones that sat slightly outside the pattern around them.

So which way

The practical answer is usually a spine from one of the five and two or three deliberate exceptions. That is a conversation rather than a rule, and it is the kind that goes much faster across a counter than down a phone, because the person on the other side of it has seen all five houses go up in the same week.
